Hog Haulage was the first purpose-built building in the Broadlands Road Development. It is a 47,230m² section of land, divided into a brand-new commercial and industrial park. The building involved the construction of two separate warehouses ranging from 2,269m² to 2,916m², with associated office spaces in both buildings for the transport company.
The main 240m² office space included multiple meeting rooms and a large open-plan kitchen/staff room. Ranch sliders were incorporated into the space as a unique feature to adapt for open-plan and closed working spaces. One of the warehouses also featured a lunchroom, showers for workers, and truck loading zones.
The project incorporated efficient stormwater management with multiple soakage ponds to handle high-exposure wind and rainfall conditions in the Taupo region. The construction met the needs of a high-traffic haulage operation with robust pavement solutions designed for heavy vehicle movements. Additionally, the site was designed to withstand high-wind exposure (Zone B) and Earthquake Zone 2 standards.
